This is a terrible composition. I did not expect Abida to participate in this orchestral massacre of a piece of poetry which should have been composed in the saddest possible notes. Perhaps it can be condoned by the fact that being a Sindhi, Abida probably does not have a total grip over Punjabi language.
This Kafi has totally unambiguous meanings. Shah Hussain is looking forward to death but is very apprehensive of the period between death and the Day of Judgement (referred to in his Islamic belief as Aalam-e-Burzukh) who’s fear in his mind is so much that he does not want to undertake this journey alone. He wishes that someone else should accompany him. But he knows it very well that one always dies alone, as a soul.
Highly unsuitable ‘joyful’ composition. The kafi is about the fears of the passage from death/grave to the Day of Judgement. It is wished that someone should accompany, but cannot find anyone. The
