Abida Perveen is a great performer and she has become an icon of sufi poetry singing. However, I wish she had not sung this kafi. Meda Ishq vee toon was presented by Pakistan’s most respected Saraiki singer (Late) Pathaney Khan. To this day no one has surpassed his soulful rendering of this Kafi. I have a great respect for Abida, however when she performed this kafi, she diminished her stature, in my view.

I was very happy to find the version of meda ishq by abida parven, whom I love, by the way, there is another version that I preferto this one available on you tube.
I agree with the comment that her rendition connot touch parthany khann’s, but I would not go so far as to say she diminished her stature by doing so,
I want to thank the person who uploaded the video and translation. My heart and soul understood, and i cried the first few times I heard Parthanay Khan sing this, but I longed to know -to understand what was being said in my language. I might add that I was very surprised to find that Iprobably could have figured it out had Parthanay Khan’s pronounciation been a bit more distinct, and please understand there is no disrespect,or offense intended, because I love and respect hiw work as well. Its just that Abid’s diction is better.
