    This particular piece is reminiscent of the period when the folk music was still not a part of the club scene. It was the ‘wandering’ artists that sang for the pleasure of the crowds ‘anywhere’. Developments in the ‘Punjabi’ music scene in the U.K. changed all that.

    I am from Majha region of Punjab on the Indian side. Our village is shaheedan in patti thesil. We’d go to the village on festivals and this is the typical style of singing there. It is so nice to hear this, reminds me of good times. :)
