In a career spanning five decades, his repertoire extended to 25,000 songs in various regional languages, including memorable hits like ‘Chalo ek baar phir se Ajnabi ban jayen hum dono’ (Gumrah), ‘Neele gagan ke taale’ (Hamraaz), and in various language, but he became synonymous with patriotic songs, with Mere Desh Ki Dharthi’, in Manoj Kumar’s film Upkaar.
