I was named kusum lata and was teased as khsaman khani.I was very young when Iheard Mohini Hameed on the Radio on children’s programme. I was literally seduced by the voice of Mohini Hameed. I rushed to my mother in the kitchen and told her thaI am going to change my name from kusum lata to Mohini. I was borne just before parttion in Gujranwalawhere my family lived for generations and moved to Delhi after partition of India.Fact that i had changed my name to Mohini was known only to me and my parents who are both deceased. By chance I happened to come accross Mohini Hameed’s name and I was both srprised and pleased that I always have had such a good taste in practically everything I do and dream. May her soul rest in peace. Ameen.
