here is a translation of the ghazal in english. the translation is done every 3 lines, so you will get the meaning and jist of the ghazal but it is not line by line. As you know moving a sentence up or down the order in urdu or punjabi makes a lot of difference in the feeling youre trying to convey. but nonetheless this is a good translation.

Just a small correction in an earlier translation that goes like this:
Aakh su ni maae ihnu Mother, would you tell him,
Rove buhl chith ke ni, To clench his lips when he weeps,
Jahg kite sun na lave! Or the world will hear him cry.
to chith is to chew – she suggests that he bite his lips as he cries lest he be heard by others.
Shiv Kumar was such a sensitive poet he laid bare his soul and you felt his emotions as your very own. It is such a loss that he died so young.

Today i understood it correctly…..and one M0000st Important thing,…..YOU KNOW…..ALL PEOPLE AROUND MAKE WRONG MEANINGS OF IT……..CAN ANYONE TELL THE CONTEXT OF THIS POEM??? SURELY NOT….All thinks its about Mother or Its about a Dead Lover Friend…NOooooooooooo… TODAY I GOT IT AND SHAREING IT WITH ALL OF YOU……
IT WAS FROM A LITTLE WIDOW WHO HERSELF WAS VERY LITTLE HAVING SMALL KIDS AND HER HUSBAND DIED..N NOW SHE IS SAYI9NG TO HER MOTHER….

AAPY NI MEIN BALIRIN HAAN,,HAALEY AAPEY MATTAN JOGI..MAAT KEHRA ESS NU DAWAY…(I myself is a child and wants understandings of things.. How could I explain to this Kid )….

First keep these in mind in Punjabi Culture:
1. It is very common to cry for ladies for loved ones who are abroad or dead.
2. If a kid is crying and gets order to stop immediately after getting beaten or if he or she is fallen, she will force herself by biting her lips so as not to make a sound.
3. Rarak – firctional pain from something stuck in your eyes
4. Birhon – Dukh , pain
5. phehe – bandage
6. kose kose sawan de takoor, in old culture it was common, if your eyes get hurt, someone will put a dupatta or napkin on your eyes and place his mouth on it and blow out warm breath, this was kind of takoor. try this very soothing. but sometimes if the pain is too much, the hurt person will wrest himself off or shout and react (khaan no pave)
The background is innocent girl who has husband and relatives died in war etc. And she is crying

shiv was from gurdaspur so in my opinion it should be bashna coz in majha dialect(standard punjabi dialect here in indian punjab ) of punjabi we pronounce it like bashna and like in other punjabi dialect for ex in malwa it sounds like washna coz they replace ba with wa overall shiva da dard di kya baat hai
na shiv kumar warga koi likh sakda si te na hi koi ustad ji warga ga sakda si is kalaam nu ……….we miss both of these legends………………
