Lyrics
Juti kasoori, paeri na poori
Hai rabba ve saahnu Turna peya.
Jina rahaaN di maeN saarna jaana
Ohni raaheeN ve maenu muRna peya.
Saure pind diyaaN lamiyaaN vaaTaaN,
BaRa pavaaRa pae geya.
Yaka te baaRe koi na keeta,
Maahiya paidal le geya.
Le mera muklaava dhola
SaRake saRake jaavanda.
KaDeya ghunD kuj keh na sakadi,
Dil mera sharmaavanda..
Sol piniyaaN paer phoole,
SaathoN Tureya jaave na.
Sajara joban, sikhar dupehre
Taras sohna khaaye na.
PaeraaN de vich pae gaye CHaale,
Mooh mera kumhlaavanda.
Mahiya Turda jaaye agge ve,
PiCHe na jhaati paavanda.
Juti kasoori, paeri na poori
Hai rabba ve saahnu Turna peya.
Jina raahaaN di maeN saarna jaaNa
Ohni raaheeN ve maeNu muRna peya

memorable and unforgettable song
My mum grew up in Lahore. After partition the family moved to Delhi. I have a very loving memory of my mother when many of my Dad’s friends used to coax my mother to sing this song. This one became her signature song in many get-togethers and parties. she loved to be flattered and cajoled into singinging, Another favourite of hers was kyuoon yaad a rahe hain guzre huie zamane and on two occasions she sand it with the actor /singer Surendra Nath himself. Indeed she had zest for life and living. She is no more but her love for music/dancing lives on among her 3 daughters.
I LOVE PUNJABI FOLK AND OTHER FOLKS TOO.THEY TOUCH YOUR SOUL.

hey thats my mom’s fav. song………….
lvlyyyy songggggg nd i loveeeeee dis songgg soooo muchhhh
A very very nice song. And lyrics create a real picture of Past village life, commitment of wife with her husband, though in many cases the couple would have not even seen or known each others, before marriage. But the customs and traditions were so strong that it meant nothing to peoples. Now, nearly, every thing has vanished. From the last 43 years this song is my most favourite song which i listen twice or thrice a week.
i love this song
this is my most fevrate song

actually m very plesently surprised dat still people use to hear these legend songs of our punjabi culture really ver very sweet songs makes u feel ur roots………….luv u surinder ji ….
This song drives me near insane. I feel myself lost in very ‘VaaTan’ (route) picturized here.
Indeed very nostalgic. The sharp and clear voice …oof! My parents too were from Lyallpur and migrated to Delhi where I was born. My mom loved the songs sung by Surinder kaur and her sister Prakash kaur. She attended many weddings where the sisters were invited to sing. I remember as a kid where on one wedding occassion Prakash kaur came with Asa Singh mastana and Mr. Mastana came to our home for drinks. I was asked by neigbours to get their autographs. My mom died last October and I can’t listen to these songs without crying. Indeed…. my salute to the nightinglae.
